This article applies to fire tables without thermocouples, such as the Granville model and the first iteration of the Robson series. We know auto-igniters can sometimes be tricky and even a bit frustrating to use. That’s why we’ve taken the time to gather the most effective tips to help our customers get the best results from this feature.
First and foremost, it's important to note that the Outland Living Fire Table is equipped with a one-time spark piezo electrode system. This means that it generates one spark per ignition attempt, which is designed to be long-lasting. As a result, it may take 1-3 attempts for the fire table to light under normal circumstances.
To assist you in troubleshooting the ignition system, we have prepared a detailed PDF document outlining a few key things to check and try. This includes the following important points:
1. Confirm your igniter cable is fully seated and secure.
2. Ensure the rocks are in the burner tray but not covering the igniter box. The rocks play a crucial role in directing the gas in the burner tray, so it's important to ensure they are being utilized. Keep in mind that if the rocks are wet, the igniter likely is also, which can cause difficulties with the ignition.
3. Always remember to close the propane tank before turning the fire table off. This helps to dissipate any residual gas in the hose and prevents the propane from flooding the burner tray, which can make it difficult for the auto-ignition to work.
4. When attempting to ignite the fire table, turn the control knob to the high-flame position (9 o'clock) in a fast and fluid motion. It's important not to stop when you hear the 'click' sound at the 12 o'clock position. If the table does not light, return the knob to the off position and release it to reset. You may need to attempt ignition 1-3 times for it to light successfully.
