Is it normal for the burner tray and tube to become discoloured?

When used in high-heat environments, stainless steel will naturally discolour or tarnish, causing it to appear rusty-dark brown or yellow-gold. This discolouration is normal and is better known as “heat tint.” Not to worry, heat tint is not harmful or damaging and can be cleaned using standard stainless-steel cleaning products; we've tested and experienced great success removing heat tint using Barkeeper's Friend and a non-abrasive pad! Never wipe in a circular motion or against the grain of the stainless steel.
